Heritage Apartment Renovation in Bondi, Sydney

The Challenge
Located in Bondi, this Art Deco apartment originally featured two bedrooms and a single small bathroom positioned within the common living area. The owners wanted to significantly improve functionality by adding an ensuite to the master bedroom, without compromising the apartment’s heritage character.
The new ensuite bathroom was positioned at the opposite end of the apartment from the existing bathroom and kitchen. With strict heritage guidelines in place, traditional plumbing would have been too disruptive to the integrity of the apartment.

Architects Arqilux were engaged to reimagine the layout, including converting an underutilised sunroom/deck area into a new ensuite bathroom and master bedroom extension. Due to the building’s heritage listing, all works were subject to strict structural and compliance constraints.

The Solution
To enable the new ensuite without compromising the apartment’s original structure, Sanipack Pro Up was selected. The compact macerator pump allowed wastewater from the new bathroom to be pumped to the existing sewer connection through slim pipes, eliminating the need for invasive structural works. Sanipack Pro UP provided the flexibility needed to introduce a new wet area in a location that would otherwise have been impossible using conventional plumbing methods.

The Result
The completed renovation delivers a beautifully integrated ensuite bathroom and an expanded master bedroom, significantly enhancing the comfort and liveability of the heritage apartment.
