Dr Refresh Clinic

Creating functional, hygienic, and beautifully designed healthcare spaces requires more than surface-level attention — it demands intelligent infrastructure behind the scenes. In Sydney’s new Dr Refresh Clinic, every design decision was made to prioritise patient experience, while minimising any disruption to neighbouring tenancies.

Objective: To create a new dermatologist and cosmetic clinic, fully fitted out with sinks and a complete wastewater solution.

Challenge: Deliver a high-quality clinic fitout with minimal disruption to neighbouring tenancies and no access to traditional gravity plumbing.

Solution: Sanifast and Sanialarm interlock - an integrated wastewater and flood-prevention system providing quiet, reliable operation and design flexibility.

Modern clinics require thoughtful design solutions that balance function with practicality. For Dr Refresh, this meant establishing multiple treatment rooms with individual hand basins, without access to traditional plumbing, which would have required extensive floor excavation - a costly and disruptive process not feasible within the existing commercial tenancy.

To overcome this, the clinic specified multiple Sanifast greywater lifting stations paired with Sanialarm Interlocks, allowing wastewater from sinks and treatment suites to be efficiently pumped away without altering the building structure. The Sanifast’s compact design and high-lift performance (pumping up to 9m vertically or 90m horizontally, or a lesser combination of both) gave the clinic complete layout freedom, while the Sanialarm Interlock provided an additional layer of protection - detecting high water levels, shutting off water supply, and isolating nearby appliances to prevent flooding.

The result is a clinic that delivers both form and function - a modern, calm environment for patients underpinned by a robust, low-maintenance plumbing solution that operates quietly and seamlessly behind the scenes.

“The Sanifast units allowed the clinic to be designed with the exact layout they wanted, without being restricted by existing drainage points. The installation was quick, clean, and gave total peace of mind.” - Technical Manager, SFA Pumps

About Sanifast

The Sanifast is a compact yet powerful greywater lifting station designed for domestic and light commercial applications. Ideal for office kitchenettes, basins, sinks, baths, and laundries, it provides a reliable wastewater solution where traditional gravity drainage isn’t available.
Capable of pumping up to 9 metres vertically or 90 metres horizontally, or a lesser combination of both, the Sanifast offers exceptional design flexibility, allowing spaces to be reconfigured without major plumbing works. Engineered for quiet operation and ease of servicing, it features a removable lid, integrated carbon filter vent, and non-return valve for efficient, low-maintenance performance.
With two 50mm inlets and a 32mm discharge outlet, the Sanifast can be easily paired with the Sanialarm Interlock for enhanced flood protection and water isolation.

About Sanialarm Interlock

The Sanialarm Interlock is designed to work with SFA’s range lifting stations and macerators, providing peace of mind and flood prevention in the event of a high-level issue. A considered plug-and-play system, the Sanialarm Interlock uses a magnetic float switch to detect water levels inside the connected SFA unit.
The Sanialarm Interlock features 3 functions, which work in conjunction in the event of flooding.

  1. Activates an audible alarm to alert occupants.
  2. Shuts off the incoming water supply to prevent further flooding.
  3. Cuts power to nearby connected appliances, such as dishwashers or washing machines.
